We have
designed this equipment with ease of installation as the highest
priority.
Q1. How
far will this link work?
A1. Around 3 Kilometres
Q2. I
don't believe it, 3 Kilometres is too far for wireless networking!!
A2. This equipment is at least twice the power of regular domestic and
small office home office equipment such as D-Link, Linksys, Netgear,
Netcomm. - Ask them.
Also in the design we have incorporated 2 x high gain directional
antennas to further improve the link quality and distance. Now you dont
need to purchase high end cisco equipment now you can chose WiFiTech -
keeping the prices fair.
Q3. 3 Kilometres isn't far I've seen advertisements stating I can get at
least 5 Kilometres with an omni-directional antenna.
A3. The advertisements you have seen are quoting absolute Best Case
scenarios. The reality is that there are many factors which will
determine exactly how much distance and what quality of link you will
get. These factors include mast height and the noise floor your network
is trying to pass through or over. Both these critical factors are out
of our scope to calculate on your behalf. This is why we take the
conservative measure of 3 kilometres. It is likely that they will work
over distances greater than this when installed in optimal enviornments.
Q4. Is it
secure from hackers?
A4. Yes - This link has never been busted.
Q5. So
does this really just plug in and work?
A5. YES, After you have physically connected the cables, screwed the
cover on securely and mounted the boxes on the roof with
line of sight and the antennas pointing to each other, plug the Ethernet
cable into your network at each end and you have your wireless network
bridge.
Q6. What
can I send up and across the link?
A6. Everything, music and video streaming, voice over IP, internet, file
transfers, Games, domain controllers VPN's, you name it.
Q7. How
fast is it?
A7. The maximum throughput is 54Mb/s, however the greater the distance
the throughput is affected. However usually more than 2 times faster than the fastest internet connection.
Q8. Do I
need a licence to operate this equipment?
A8. Absolutely Not.
Q9. What
are the ongoing expenses?
A9. None, besides the electricity to power the link units. About $10 per
year - (both sides combined)
Q10. What
if I need help?
A10. This has been designed to be very easy to install, however if you
fell like calling us for a chat and brag about what distance you got,
Give us a call (02) 9593-5577. We'd love to hear from you. |
